Jai Uttal is an American musician, Grammy-nominated singer, and a pioneer in the world music & Bhakti-yoga communities.

In this interview, Jai introduces us to the practice of yoga chanting known as Kirtan. He describes the path of Bhakti, the yoga of devotion, and tells us how it can effortlessly open our hearts.

Jai gives us tips for connecting to the source of True Love (hint: there is no one way!) and a guide for creating our own personal chanting practice no matter what your voice sounds like (trust us, Nicole is quite self-conscious about hers!)

Stay tuned for Jai's original tunes and chants mid-interview!

In this interview you'll also learn...

  • What Kirtan and Bhakti are and why you won't want to leave them out of your yoga practice
  • How Bhakti can help if you're practicing yoga but still feel like a mess inside [5:10]
  • Why chanting mantras (Divine sounds and names) can be the easiest path to peacefulness in a difficult age [9:00 - 12:30]
  • The Mahamantra sung by Jai on special request by Nicole [17:30]
  • How to create your own personal Kirtan practice [22:00]
  • How by surrendering we actually overcome the greatest obstacle: ourselves
